Reading a Meshtastic channel link

A channel link (meshtastic.org/e/#…) or channel QR code holds channel names, their keys and often a full set of LoRa settings. The Channel Decoder reads one and tells you what a node would do with it. Decoding changes nothing on any node.

Use it to

  • See what’s inside a channel QR code or URL someone sent you.
  • Find out whether a link replaces your radio settings or only adds channels.
  • Work out why a link won’t import.

How it works

  • Paste the link, or the text a QR scanner app shows for the code.
  • You get a verdict first, then the checks, then what scanning would do, then every field.
  • Values newer than firmware 2.7.26 are labelled. Unknown fields are kept and shown.

Good to know

  • A link can decode and still not be a standard Meshtastic link. You’ll see both answers.
  • To change a decoded link, open it in the Channel Configurator. If anything would be changed or dropped, you see the list first.
